Jako, a men's fragrance launched by Lagerfeld in 1998, takes its name from Villa Jako, the neoclassical house on the banks of the Elbe near Hamburg that Karl Lagerfeld restored; the stylised logo was inspired by its façade. The sleek glass bottle has metal fittings that look like a tube tightened by two setscrews. A woody oriental, it opens with grapefruit, plum and davana, warms through a spicy heart of clove, ginger, cardamom and rosewood, and settles on patchouli, ambergris, sandalwood and white musk.
