Bvlgari Black, created in 1998 by perfumer Annick Menardo, is a daring fragrance for its time: an urban, unisex scent built around smoky tea and the accord of warm rubber. Its flat, disc-shaped bottle is wrapped in black rubber like a tyre, a design credited to Thierry de Baschmakoff. After a short citrus top of bergamot, the focus moves to smoky black tea, often described as lapsang souchong, over dry woods, then to a smooth base of leather, amber, vanilla and musk.
